This book documents a workshop of the same name conducted at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Participants developed individual spatial design strategies by analysing textile techniques and their underlying geometrical spatial appearance. As in architecture, fashion creates a second skin that can adapt to the human body depending on its programming the skin changes. In terms of spatial organization, many things can be learnt from techniques that are used by fashion designers. In the Performative Geometries workshops, participants analysed a specific piece of clothes in terms of geometry, technique, cutting pattern and material. This book contains many visuals of the formal studies that lie between fashion, textiles, space and architecture, combining and blurring the fluid nature of fashion and textiles and the static aspect of architectural space.

Asterios Agkathidis is author of Modular Structures in Design and Architecture (on page 74) and Digital Manufacturing (on page 10). Gabi Schillig teaches at the Institute for Transmedia Design at Berlin University of the Arts.
